The present monographic work has as objective to analyze the (im) possibility of application of Protective Measures of Urgency by the Chief of Police. In research on the level, the exploratory research was used; qualitative research; and, regarding the procedure of data collection, the research is bibliographical and documentary. The investigations, carried out through doctrines, precedents and jurisprudence, indicate the forms of domestic and family violence against women, the Protective Measures of Urgency with their modalities and their method of applicability. In this way, it was concluded that at present it is not possible to apply the Protective Measures of Urgency by the Chief of Police. However, granting it would be a way to ensure the safety of victims of violence, and to facilitate implementation quickly and effectively. It urges to point out that there has already been a discussion on the subject in Complementary Law Project nº. 07/2016, but with the veto there are new attempts with Bill nº. 6433/13 still in progress, always observing the best way to protect effectively the victims.
