The theme of this work is "International humanitarian law and its application in situations of armed conflict", being justified through the knowledge that despite the great technological and intellectual advance of individuals there is still international conflicts and that there are several people who work in search of world peace. It has risen as problematic: what are the delimitations imposed by the norms of international humanitarian law in cases of armed conflict? It aimed to establish and distinguish the greatest challenges to international humanitarian law in armed conflicts. And as specific objectives: to conceptualize international humanitarian law on armed conflicts, analyze the standards in force in the Geneva Protocols for armed conflicts, document disrespect for Geneva protocols and identify the application of international humanitarian law today. The study is characterized as a bibliographic and documentary research. It was found that war has always been present along with human evolution, in the past it was not a worrying factor as in current times, because from population growth, the advancement of technologies and trade relations between countries, legitimation about the use of force became a cause for concern. With the realization of it it it was possible to show that the various armed conflicts, in the past and present, demonstrate the effectiveness of action in the face of the search for international humanitarian law, and world peace has always been desired. However, it is believed that there is still much to be done, especially with regard to legislation and their applicability.
