Práticas sustentáveis em uma instituição de ensino: uma análise sob a perspectiva da teoria da modernização ecológica

Given the reality of an intense process of globalization and technology, issues of sustainability and sustainable actions are the focus to the socio-environmental debate and appear in various sectors of society, such as private companies, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). Thus, the objective of this study is to analyze the sustainable practices adopted by the IFSC Gaspar Campus under the perspective of the Theory of Ecological Modernization (TEM). A case study was carried out at Gaspar Campus with the members of the Environmental Management Commission (EMC) and the campus manager to obtain the data. Bardin's content analysis technique (2011) and data triangulation were used, which showed that the sustainable practices developed at the Gaspar Campus, such as Solid Waste Management and containment in the consumption of electricity and water, are in line with the visions of public policies and technological innovations considered important by TEM. At the end of the study, was verified the preponderant role of the EMC in the sustainable practices developed on campus. The main conclusion of the study is that the researched campus has shown, since the beginning of its activities, attention to sustainability, in particular, the environmental pillar. And of the practices performed, there was an affinity with TEM's precepts in relation to public policies and technological innovations in the scenario of public educational institutions.
