The present essay has as its analysis object the effects of the Constitutional Amendment number 103 of November 12, 2019 in the death pension benefit and also expose the opinion of the authors about this topic. In order to reach this goal, the method of research called bibliographic and documental research was used, including online files. Firstly, the essay presents an explanation about the history of social security in Brazil and its current schemes. In the sequence, it brings facts about Regime Geral da Previdência Social (RGPS), its beneficiaries (insured and their dependents) and some principles which are pertinent to Social Security Law. Before working on the main goal of this assignment, we studied the death pension benefit, also the beneficiaries, requisites, beginning dates and ways of cessation of the benefit. At last, the modifications deriving from EC nº 103/2019, among them, the new calculus rule and the irreversibility of quotas, besides a doctrinaire analysis concerning the modifications on the death pension benefit was done. With the study, considering the changes brought by the social security remodel on the calculus rules and the prevision of irreversibility of quotas, it was verified that those alterations were not beneficial to the insured’s dependentes.
