Resumo: | This text deals with a perception of change regarding the concept of design in its essence and its forms of application today, especially with regard to the term product design. From the history of the word “design” that mixes with the history of “design” as an area of knowledge, passing through the analysis of design as a practical activity, going from industrial design to product design, until arriving at the product as a result of the design process, it’s observed that its meaning has changed significantly. Product design, which we originally knew, is no longer restricted to the product as an object but rather covers the product as a result of the design process, be it physical or digital, just as the product is the result of multiplication, within the scope of mathematics. This diversified knowledge multiplication aimed at innovation and the development of new solutions to problems that are becoming increasingly complex. |

This diversified knowledge multiplication aimed at innovation and the development of new solutions to problems that are becoming increasingly complex.Este texto trata de una percepción de cambio respecto al concepto de diseño en su esencia y sus formas de aplicación en la actualidad, especialmente en lo que respecta al término diseño de producto. Partiendo de la historia de la palabra “diseño” que se mezcla con la historia del “diseño” como área de conocimiento, pasando por el análisis del diseño como actividad práctica, del diseño industrial al diseño de producto, hasta llegar al producto como resultado del proceso de diseño, se observa que su significado ha cambiado significativamente. El diseño de producto, que originalmente conocíamos, ya no se limita al producto como objeto, sino que cubre el producto como resultado del proceso de diseño, ya sea físico o digital, así como el producto es el resultado de la multiplicación, dentro del alcance de las matemáticas. Multiplicación, esta, de conocimientos diversificados que tiene como objetivo la innovación y el desarrollo de nuevas soluciones a problemas cada vez más complejos.Este texto trata de uma percepção de mudança a respeito do conceito de design na sua essência e de suas formas de aplicação na atualidade, principalmente no que tange o termo design de produto ou product design. Partindo da história da palavra “design” que se mistura com a própria história do “design” como área do conhecimento, passando pela análise do design como atividade prática, indo do design industrial ao design de produto, até chegar no produto como resultado do processo de design, observa-se que seu significado tem se alterado significamente. O design de produto ou product design, que conhecíamos originalmente, não se restringe mais ao produto como objeto, mas sim abrange o produto como resultado do processo de design, seja ele físico ou digital – assim como o produto é o resultado da multiplicação, no âmbito da matemática.
