Paulo Leminski poet and translator: the “trans-creation” of the poems from Petronius’ Satyricon

Resumo: This paper presents an analysis of the translation made by the poet Paulo Leminski from Curitiba, Brazil, of the poems from Petronius’ Satyricon. Thus, the choices and liberties adopted by the poet will be highlighted, as well as the marks of his own poetic making in these translations. The analysis take into consideration the process of “trans-creation” of the poems, announced by the translator from his own theoretical convictions, i.e., that the translation of poetry should contain the surprise content of the original text, “uncreating” it to reproduce the material effects as well.

Así, pone de relieve las elecciones y las libertades adoptadas por el poeta, así como las marcas de su propia factura poética en estas traducciones. El análisis toma en cuenta el proceso de “trans-creación” de los poemas, anunciado por el traductor desde sus propias convicciones teóricas, es decir, que la traducción de la poesía debe contener el contenido sorpresa del texto original, “des-creando” para reproducir también los efectos materiales.No presente trabalho apresenta-se uma análise da tradução feita pelo poeta curitibano Paulo Leminski dos poemas do Satyricon de Petrônio. Sendo assim, destacam-se as escolhas e as liberdades adotadas pelo poeta, como também as marcas de seu próprio fazer poético nessas traduções.
