Resumo: Based on a review of laws, legislative proposals, especially Bill 2630/2020, and documents published by civil society organisations, this paper presents the current situation and prospects for countering disinformation through legal mechanisms and their possible implications for freedom of expression and the press. It notes the lack of significant effects of the current rules and the low risk of rights violations in the proposals under discussion, which have the potential to promote advances in the regulation of digital platforms.
