Resumo: This article aims to apprehend attacks on political correctness (PC), in particular, the denial of identity conflicts. From the 2018 Brazilian electoral context, we explored the battles linked to such discursive regulation, which has varied effects in the public sphere. Therefore, comments (N = 2,614) on Bolsonaro’s Facebook pages (ex-PSL) and Haddad (PT) are investigated through content analysis. The main findings indicate that Bolsonaro’s supporters, in attacking the politically correct, for the most part, also deny the differences between identity groups, while Haddad’s supporters recognize these differences. The first type is therefore toxic to social pluralism.
