Media-Visual Literacy: a study about the perceptions of teachers in the public network

Resumo: In the school setting, it is crucial to provide critical pedagogical mediations that problematize the lessons that students negotiate with the media. The work aims to categorize and analyze a mapping of the scenario of Media-Visual Literacy in nine public schools in a municipality in Rio Grande do Sul. Data collection was done through a questionnaire answered by 110 teachers. We used the content analysis method and, in this article, we analyze two of the four categories that emerged. The research subjects understand Media-Visual Literacy as a relevant element in school pedagogy and believe that teaching work is often guided by such media.

El trabajo tiene como objetivo categorizar y analizar un mapeo del escenario de la Alfabetización Mediática-Visual en nueve escuelas públicas en un municipio en Rio Grande do Sul. La recopilación de datos se realizó a través de un cuestionario respondido por 110 docentes. Utilizamos el método de análisis de contenido y, en este artículo, analizamos dos de las cuatro categorías que surgieron. Los sujetos de investigación comprenden la Alfabetización Mediática-Visual como un elemento relevante en la pedagogía escolar y creen que el trabajo docente a menudo está guiado por dichos medios.No território escolar, é fulcral a oferta de mediações pedagógicas críticas que problematizem as lições que os/as estudantes negociam com a mídia. O trabalho objetiva categorizar e analisar um mapeamento sobre o cenário da Alfabetização Midiática-Visual em nove escolas públicas de um município no Rio Grande do Sul. A coleta de dados ocorreu via questionário respondido por 110 docentes. Utilizamos o método de análise de conteúdo e analisamos, neste artigo, duas das quatro categorias que emergiram.
