This work aims to contribute to the debate about autobiography uses and forms based on our experiences with art. Our reflections are the result of research that investigated the formation of Visual Arts teachers from an autobiographical perspective. For this article we are guided by the following question: how can art, its procedures, objects, images or concepts help us to find new ways of narrating, perceiving and looking at oneself? We focused on the work carried out with a group of students and teachers of Arts. We adopted as a theoretical and methodological framework of (Auto) Biographical Research, and we used visual narratives, combined with the oral and written narratives traditionally used in this approach, as the main strategy. We hope to contribute to the debate about the possibilities of using this approach in research in the field of Art and Education.
