Vocational education and the challenges of Brazilian development: an integrated proposal between graduate and basic education and the world of work

Resumo: | This text focuses on vocational education as a strategic training path for national development. It revisits the evolution of vocational education identifying disconnects between graduate study and basic education and proposing new links in a chain which should constitute a formative axis that starts from basic education and is able to progress through to the doctorate level for professionals. It defends the strategic role of graduate education, which is fundamental in training professionals for various sectors of society and is particularly important for the training teachers. Furthermore, the graduate level provides a space for reflection and for the practice of new learning and teaching designs, not only in order to reinvent itself, but also to contribute to educational solutions for lower levels of education and, in particular, for the world of work. |

Revisita la evolución de la educación profesional, identificando desconexiones entre los estudios de posgrado y la educación básica y proponiendo nuevos enlaces de una cadena que debe constituirse en un eje formativo que se inicia en la educación básica y puede extenderse hasta el doctorado para profesionales. Se defiende el papel estratégico que tiene el posgrado, fundamental en la formación de profesionales para los diferentes sectores de la sociedad y de profesores en particular, aunque también como un espacio para la reflexión y la práctica de nuevas vías de enseñanza y aprendizaje, de manera que no sea tan solo una reinvención, sino una contribución de soluciones educativas, en particular para los niveles previos de formación, así como para el universo laboral.O estudo se baseia no relato de 30 professores sobre o curso de mestrado que concluíram recentemente como via de preparação para a pesquisa. As conclusões confirmam a importância do curso e apontam para a discussão de vários de seus aspectos: o sistema de seleção dos candidatos, o conjunto de disciplinas e atividades oferecidas, a participação em grupos de pesquisa, o estímulo à produção discente,o processo de orientação e defesa da dissertação e todo o conjunto de recursos oferecidos pela instituição universitária na qual se situa o programa de pós-graduação.
