New Technologies Applied in Distance Education: a Case Study on Retention and Dropout in Higher Education

Resumo: In an increasingly globalized world, based not only on costs and innovation, where speed is now critical to success in the market, professionals must always be prepared for the challenges of change, creativity and revolution of knowledge. New technologies associated with distance education projects increase the possibility of access to a professional training program. Even with the increasing technological advancement in distance learning, it was not efficient to contain the evasion number. Working distance education is not simple, and a teaching methodology is needed in synergy with the navigation tools, simple to be absorbed by the students and that will create an interaction between teachers and students who are the great actors of education. The study aims to know the main factors that contribute to distance learning avoidance and present strategies in its control. It is concluded that the avoidance control should be well planned from the preparation of the course, with permanent communication, a good infrastructure in the technology part so that the student can follow the course and have control over the software that will use it, in order to provide support in the technological and pedagogical issues.. Training.  Em um mundo cada vez mais globalizado, baseado não apenas nos custos e na inovação, onde, a velocidade é agora crítica para se ter sucesso no mercado, os profissionais precisam estar sempre preparados para os desafios de mudança, criatividade e espírito empreendedor para enfrentar a revolução do conhecimento. Novas tecnologias associadas a projetos de ensino a distância aumentam a possibilidade de acesso a um programa de formação profissional. Mesmo com o avanço tecnológico cada vez maior no ensino a distância, não foi eficiente para conter o número de evasão. Trabalhar a educação a distância não é simples, sendo necessária uma metodologia de ensino em sinergia com as ferramentas de navegação, simples de serem absorvidas pelos alunos e que venha a criar uma interação entre professores e alunos que são os grandes atores do ensino. O estudo tem como objetivo conhecer os principais fatores que contribuem para a evasão no ensino a distância e apresentar estratégias em seu controle. Conclui-se que o controle da evasão deve ser bem planejado a partir da elaboração do curso, com comunicação permanente, uma boa infraestrutura na parte de tecnologia para que o aluno possa acompanhar o curso e ter controle em relação ao software que passarão a utilizá-lo no seu dia a dia, possuir profissionais bem treinados para dar o suporte nas questões tecnológicas e pedagógicas.
