Self-assessment in MOOC on Lean Management in Civil Construction

Resumo: The growing demand for online courses for continuing education opens up opportunities for higher education institutions to offer a variety of courses for different audiences. One of the alternative formats is Massive Open Online Course (MOOC), which is characterized, among other elements, by emphasizing students' autonomy and self-management. This implies relativizing traditional strategies for controlling activities and evaluating performance and adopting practices that are compliant and encourage students' autonomy and self-management. To evaluate the self-management practices of students on MOOC courses, a survey was carried out with students of the Lean Management in Civil Construction course, offered in MOOC format by the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR) in partnership with the Federal Technological University of Paraná (UTFPR) since 2020. The data was obtained through self-assessments administered to students at the beginning and end of the course. The results revealed that, despite the difficulties inherent to the specific content and modality, students are aware that a MOOC requires self-discipline, responsibility and motivation, as it advocates student autonomy in their learning. From the data obtained in this evaluation, it appears that students who studied all the content and completed all activities were successful in obtaining certification at the end of the course. In view of the analyzes carried out, the importance of self-assessment as a tool for evaluating course performance stands out. It is a systematic and transparent way of evaluating student performance, allowing the course's learning objectives to be communicated in a clear and objective manner, improving the quality of feedback provided and standardizing assessment.

Uno de los formatos alternativos es el Curso Masivo Abierto en Línea (MOOC), que se caracteriza, entre otros elementos, por enfatizar la autonomía y la autogestión de los estudiantes. Esto implica relativizar las estrategias tradicionales de control de actividades y evaluación del desempeño y adoptar prácticas que sean conformes y fomenten la autonomía y la autogestión de los estudiantes. Para evaluar las prácticas de autogestión de los estudiantes de los cursos MOOC, se realizó una encuesta con estudiantes del curso Lean Management en Construcción Civil, ofrecido en formato MOOC por la Universidad Federal de Paraná (UFPR) en alianza con la Universidad Tecnológica Federal de Paraná (UTFPR) desde 2020. Los datos se obtuvieron a través de autoevaluaciones administradas a los estudiantes al inicio y final del curso. Los resultados revelaron que, a pesar de las dificultades inherentes al contenido y modalidad específica, los estudiantes son conscientes de que un MOOC requiere autodisciplina, responsabilidad y motivación, ya que propugna la autonomía del estudiante en su aprendizaje. De los datos obtenidos en esta evaluación, surge que los estudiantes que estudiaron todo el contenido y completaron todas las actividades lograron obtener la certificación al final del curso. A la vista de los análisis realizados, se destaca la importancia de la autoevaluación como herramienta para evaluar el desempeño del curso. Es una forma sistemática y transparente de evaluar el desempeño de los estudiantes, permitiendo comunicar de manera clara y objetiva los objetivos de aprendizaje del curso, mejorando la calidad de la retroalimentación brindada y estandarizando la evaluación.A crescente procura por cursos online para formação continuada abre oportunidades para que instituições de ensino superior ofereçam uma variedade de cursos para diferentes públicos. Isso implica em relativizar as estratégias tradicionais de controle de atividades e avaliação de desempenho e adotar práticas que sejam aderentes e fomentem a autonomia e a autogestão dos estudantes. Para avaliar as práticas de autogestão dos estudantes de cursos MOOC foi realizada uma pesquisa com estudantes do curso Gestão Lean na Construção Civil, ofertado em formato MOOC pela Universidade Federal do Paraná (UFPR) em parceria com a Universidade Tecnológica Federal do Paraná (UTFPR) desde 2020. Os dados foram obtidos por meio autoavaliações aplicadas aos alunos no início e ao final do curso. Os resultados revelaram que, apesar das dificuldades inerentes ao conteúdo específico e da modalidade, os alunos estão cientes de que um MOOC exige autodisciplina, responsabilidade e motivação, uma vez que preconiza a autonomia discente frente à sua aprendizagem. A partir dos dados obtidos nesta avaliação, verifica-se que os alunos que estudaram todo o conteúdo e completaram todas as atividades foram bem-sucedidos em obter a certificação ao final do curso. Frente às análises realizadas, destaca-se a importância da autoavaliação como uma ferramenta para avaliação de desempenho do curso.
