Evaluation of Distance Learning at the UFSM Based on Efficiency Indicator

Resumo: | This study aimed an initial estimate of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in UAB at Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM) based on efficiency indicators. It considered all course options of undergraduate and UAB postgraduate courses, from 2005 to 2017. Quantitative and qualitative descriptive and analytical research were used based on information about UAB/UFSM courses and semi-structured interviews to organize reports on course and to generate indicators, in order to subsequently to check the performance of them. In terms of results, the completion rate of UAB/UFSM undergraduate courses was 40.40% and of 51.52% for the postgraduate courses, demonstrating that the level of performance of the UAB undergraduate and postgraduate courses at the UFSM, in relation to efficiency, was higher than the rate of high courses estimated by Capes, but when it is compared to face-to-face modality, it presented a slightly lower results regarding the conclusion rate. It should be noted that some courses had a significant performance, with higher completion rates, even than compared to courses at the face-to-face modality. Keywords: Distance learning. Efficiency indicatorsO estudo objetivou realizar uma avaliação dos cursos de graduação e de pós-graduação lato sensu a distância no âmbito UAB na Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM), baseado em indicadores de eficiência. Considerou-se todas as ofertas de curso de graduação e de pós-graduação UAB, desde 2005 até 2017. Utilizou-se de pesquisa descritiva e analítica de caráter quantitativo e qualitativo baseadas em informações acerca dos cursos UAB/UFSM para estruturar relatórios sobre as ofertas dos cursos e para gerar indicadores, visando, posteriormente, avaliação do desempenho. Em termos de resultados, o nível de desempenho dos cursos de graduação e pós-graduação UAB, em relação à eficiência, mostrou-se superior à taxa de conclusão de cursos superiores estimada pela Capes, porém quando comparada à modalidade presencial, apresentou resultados pouco inferiores quanto à taxa de conclusão. Ressalta-se que, alguns cursos apresentaram desempenho expressivo, inclusive em relação aos cursos na modalidade presencial. Palavras-chave: Educação a distância. Universidade Aberta do Brasil.
