EXPECTATIONS OF UNDERGRADUATE MATHEMATICS STUDENTS REGARDING FINANCIAL EDUCATION

Resumo: This research sought to understand aspects related to financial education from the perceptions of students of the Mathematics Degree Course at IFMA, Campus Buriticupu, from the perspective of Critical Mathematics Education by Skovsmose and mathematics teacher training by D'Ambrosio. Six academics enrolled in the discipline of financial mathematics participated in the research. A qualitative approach was adopted and for data collection a questionnaire with 12 open questions was used. For data analysis, content analysis was supported, which allowed the categorization of their statements regarding: characterization of the participant; motivations and expectations of academics in relation to financial education; knowledge and skills in financial education and perceptions of the challenges and opportunities that could arise from financial education. It was observed that they had no contact with the subject in basic education and until the present moment (fourth semester of the Mathematics course) and when they comment on the importance of financial education, they only relate it to the value of money. It was concluded that the insertion of this object of knowledge in the students' path can help them both in the development of knowledge related to financial and social issues. In addition to helping them to be critical, reflective and autonomous.

In addition to helping them to be critical, reflective and autonomous.Esta investigación buscó comprender aspectos relacionados con la educación financiera a partir de las percepciones de estudiantes del Curso de Licenciatura en Matemáticas del IFMA, Campus Buriticupu, desde la perspectiva de la Educación Matemática Crítica de Skovsmose y la formación de profesores de matemáticas de D’Ambrosio. Participaron en la investigación 06 académicos matriculados en la asignatura de matemática financiera. Se adoptó el enfoque cualitativo y para la recolección de datos se utilizó un cuestionario con 12 preguntas abiertas. Para el análisis de los datos se apoyó en el análisis de contenido, lo que permitió la categorización de sus declaraciones en cuanto a: caracterización del participante; motivaciones y expectativas de los académicos respecto a la educación financiera; conocimientos y habilidades en educación financiera y percepciones de los académicos sobre los desafíos y oportunidades de la educación financiera. Se observó que no tuvieron contacto con la temática en la educación básica y hasta el presente momento (cuarto semestre del curso de Matemáticas), cuando comentan sobre la importancia de la educación financiera, solo la relacionan con el valor del dinero. Se concluyó que la inserción de este objeto de conocimiento, en el camino de los estudiantes, puede ayudarles tanto en el desarrollo de saberes relacionados con las cuestiones financieras como en lo social. Además de ayudarles a ser críticos, reflexivos y autónomos.Esta pesquisa buscou compreender aspectos relacionados à educação financeira a partir das percepções de estudantes do Curso de Licenciatura em Matemática do IFMA, Campus Buriticupu, na perspectiva da Educação Matemática Crítica de Skovsmose e formação de professores de matemática de D’Ambrosio. Participaram da pesquisa 06 acadêmicos matriculados na disciplina de matemática financeira. Adotou-se a abordagem qualitativa e para a coleta de dados utilizou-se um questionário com 12 perguntas abertas. Para análise dos dados apoiou-se na análise de conteúdo, o que possibilitou a categorização de suas falas quanto: caracterização do participante; motivações e expectativas dos acadêmicos em relação à educação financeira; conhecimentos e habilidades em educação financeira e percepções dos acadêmicos quanto aos desafios e oportunidades da educação financeira. Observou-se que eles não tiveram contato com a temática na educação básica e até o presente momento (quarto semestre do curso de Matemática) e quando comentam sobre a importância da educação financeira, apenas a relacionam ao valor do dinheiro. Concluiu-se que a inserção desse objeto de conhecimento, no caminhar dos estudantes, pode auxiliá-los tanto no desenvolvimento de saberes relacionados às questões financeiras quanto no social.
