Resumo: Through employing the metaphor of a thread in the manufacturing of cloth, this article aims to present some of the shifts that happened in Brazilian legislation, as well as in other national and international documents, in order to problematize the formulation of Act nº 11.340/2006 – the Maria da Penha Act. This article has its theory and methodology based on post-structuralist Gender Studies and a few concepts by Michel Foucault. In regards to the production of data, a documentary research was conducted. In the analysis, the presentation of the documents is interwoven with problematization concerning gender issues and violence against women. A phenomenon which reflects the silence imposed to women due to sexism/machismo and the patriarchy, still present in our society. Finally, we remove the cloth from the loom knowing that the enactment of the Maria da Penha Act demands/will demand the constant mobilization of women’s movements and those of Brazilian society.

El texto se fundamenta teórico y metodológicamente a partir de los Estudios de Género, postestructuralistas, y algunos conceptos de Michel Foucault. Para la producción de los datos se ha optado por la investigación documental. En los análisis, presentamos documentos tejiendo problematizaciones a respeto de las cuestiones de género y la violencia contra las mujeres, siendo ese fenómeno el reflejo de un silenciamiento impuesto a ellas a causa del machismo y del patriarcado, aún, tan presentes en nuestra sociedad. Finalmente, quitamos el tejido del telar sabiendo que la efectivización de la LeiMaria da Penha exige/exigirá una movilización constante de los movimientos de mujeres y de la sociedad brasileña.En utilisant la métaphore du fil dans la production d'un tissu, l’article vise à présenter certains mouvements qui ont eu lieu dans la législation brésilienne et dans d'autres documents nationaux et internationaux, afin de problématiser la constitution de la loi nº 11.340/2006 – la loi Maria da Penha. L’article s'appuie théoriquement et méthodologiquement sur les études de genre post-structuralistes et sur certains concepts de Michel Foucault. En ce qui concerne la production de données, la recherche documentaire a été adopté. Dans les analyses, nous présentons des documents entremêlant des problématisations à propos des questions de genre et des violences faites aux femmes. Ce phénomène reflète le silence imposé aux femmes à cause du machisme et du patriarcat, si présents dans notre société. Enfin, le tissu est enlevé du métier à tisser en comprenant que la mise en œuvre de la loi Maria da Penha réclame/réclamera la mobilisation constante des mouvements de femmes et ceux de la société brésilienne.Utilizando a metáfora do fio na produção de um tecido, o artigo tem como objetivo apresentar alguns deslocamentos que ocorreram na legislação brasileira e em outros documentos nacionais e internacionais, a fim de problematizar a constituição da Lei nº 11.340/2006 - Lei Maria da Penha. O texto fundamenta-se teórica e metodologicamente a partir dos Estudos de Gênero, pós-estruturalistas, e alguns conceitos de Michel Foucault. Para produção dos dados optou-se pela pesquisa documental. Nas análises, apresentamos documentos tecendo problematizações com relação às questões de gênero e à violência contra as mulheres, sendo esse fenômeno o reflexo de um silenciamento imposto a elas em função do machismo e do patriarcado, ainda, tão presentes em nossa sociedade.
