Resumo: | Social midea have a huge influence in the current society, including the self-esteem of its users. It is notorious that the female public, since the old times, has suffered social pressure on their appearance, and, nowadays, this pressure may be closely linked to the use of the media. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the influence of social media in the construction of selfesteem and self-image in women, explaining the construction of female self-esteem. For this, a descriptive research was virtually applied. This study included 123 women aged 18 years or older, selected by the non-probabilistic convenience technique. As for the instruments, the sociodemographic questionnaire, the Rosenberg scale of self-esteem and the scale of use of social media were used. The study was carried out considering the ethical aspects relevant to research involving human beings, according to Resolution 466/12. Therefore, it was possible to verify that 73.2% of the participants feel influenced by the media; according to the data collected in this research, the female audience shares personal photos on their social medea, but not necessarily with filters. Thus, it can be concluded that although the hypotheses have not been confirmed, the need to persist in the theme is reinforced, aiming at more significant results. |

Thus, it can be concluded that although the hypotheses have not been confirmed, the need to persist in the theme is reinforced, aiming at more significant results.
