The social and technological changes have occurred in recent years require an awareness of the profession on issues focused on social responsibility. Rethinking the education of librarians, defining a profile that meets the different social groups and is linked to social responsibility, raising the question: what are the aspects of social responsibility addressed during the training of librarians? From that question was examined conceptual aspects of the programs of subject bibliographies of library science course at the Federal University of Ceará (UFC). It was noted that social responsibility is focused on the quality of relationships to the growth of society, taking responsibility for a professional librarian as an agent of processors, the performance of his duties as called information society.
