Semiotics in library science courses in Brazil: a survey of contents and theoretical currents from the curriculum

Resumo: | Among the essential foundations for the training of information professionals are the contents related to theories of language, present mainly in disciplines related to the Organization of Information and Knowledge. Semiotics, as a science that studies the processes of signification and languages, is linked to the teaching of librarianship. Thus, the objective of this research is to analyze the contents and theoretical currents of semiotics in undergraduate courses in librarianship in Brazil. For this, this research, of qualitative approach and theoretical nature, uses the method of documentary research from a survey of library science courses in Brazil on the e-mec platform. As a result, it presents an analysis of the teaching plans, menus and bibliographies of the courses analyzed, identifying the main theorists and approaches present in the teaching of librarianship. It can be concluded that the bibliographies of the courses focus more on works that introduce general semiotics and its various theories, an approach more appropriate for a first contact with the theory. Thus, the contact with the classics of semiotics is restricted to the thought of the available commentators. |

La semiótica, como ciencia que estudia los procesos de significación y los lenguajes, está vinculada a la enseñanza de la biblioteconomía. Así, el objetivo de esta investigación es analizar los contenidos y las corrientes teóricas de la semiótica en los cursos de pregrado en biblioteconomía en Brasil. Para ello, esta investigación, de enfoque cualitativo y naturaleza teórica, utiliza el método de investigación documental a partir de una encuesta de cursos de biblioteconomía en Brasil en la plataforma e-mec. Como resultado, se presenta un análisis de los planes de enseñanza, menús y bibliografías de las disciplinas analizadas, identificando los principales teóricos y enfoques presentes en la enseñanza de la biblioteconomía. Se concluye que las bibliografías de las disciplinas se centran más en las obras que hacen la introducción a la semiótica general y sus diversas teorías, un enfoque más adecuado para un primer contacto con la teoría. Así, el contacto con los clásicos de la semiótica se limita al pensamiento de los comentaristas disponibles.Dentre os fundamentos essenciais para a formação do profissional da informação estão os conteúdos ligados às teorias da linguagem, presentes principalmente nas disciplinas relacionadas à Organização da Informação e do Conhecimento. A semiótica por ser uma ciência que estuda os processos de significação e as linguagens, liga-se ao ensino de biblioteconomia. Assim, o objetivo desta pesquisa é analisar os conteúdos e correntes teóricas da semiótica nos cursos de graduação em Biblioteconomia no Brasil. Para isso, essa pesquisa, de abordagem qualitativa e natureza teórica, utiliza o método da pesquisa documental a partir de um levantamento dos cursos de biblioteconomia no Brasil na plataforma e-mec. Como resultado, apresenta-se uma análise dos planos de ensino, ementas e bibliografias das disciplinas analisadas, identificando os principais teóricos e abordagens presentes no ensino de biblioteconomia. Conclui-se que as bibliografias das disciplinas voltam-se mais para obras que façam introdução à semiótica geral e suas diversas teorias, uma abordagem mais adequada para um primeiro contato com a teoria.
