Teacher life: continuing education for Basic Education Teachers

Resumo: This article presents the results of discussions on continuing education for teachers. Its objective was to reflect on the importance of continuous training and daily practices of basic education teachers at a public school in the Brazilian city of Maceió. The central question of the research is based on teachers’ self-confidence and motivation in the exercise of their pedagogical functions. The methodology is based on qualitative research, supported by Lüdke; André (2018), with a research-action approach based on Chizzotti (2017). The theoretical framework was based on discussions about continuing education for teachers, as well as the aspects of teachers’ professional identity, backed by Freire (1996), Pimenta (1996), Silva; Pereira Mano (2018), Gatti (2019), and Falcão (2020), among other teacher education scholars. The results have shown the importance of continuing education for teachers, providing a closer view of the educational reality, as well as the teaching and learning process.

A metodologia está baseada na pesquisa qualitativa, amparada em Lüdke; André (2018), com abordagem na pesquisa-ação, fundamentada em Chizzotti (2017). O referencial teórico teve como base as discussões sobre a formação continuada de professores, bem como os aspectos sobre a identidade profissional do professor, motivadas por: Freire (1996), Pimenta (1996), Silva; Pereira Mano (2018), Gatti (2019), Falcão (2020), entre outros estudiosos do processo de formação docente.
