Resumo: | Some blackberry (Rubus sp.) varieties are well adapted to warm regions like the western Santa Catarina State, Brazil. Chapecó it’s not an important blackberry producer, but offers some market opportunities. The objective of this work was to evaluate five blackberry varieties regarding harvest time, yield and fruit quality. The varieties Brazos, Tupy, Cherokee, Guarani and Xavante were evaluated during two seasons in regard to number and mass of berries produced, harvesting time, individual mass, juice soluble solids content and total acidity. The highest yield was observed in ‘Tupy’ (13.3t ha-1 year-1), whose berries were low in acidity and had a higher relation between soluble solids and acidity than ‘Xavante’, but similar to the others. ‘Brazos’ needed the shorter time to reach 10 and 90% of berry mass harvested and ‘Guarani’ the longer. It was concluded that the variety Tupy is the most productive, with berries of big size, low in acidity and with a good ratio between soluble solids and acidity. ‘Brazos’ is the earliest and ‘Guarani’ the latest in ripening time |

Chapecó não é um importante produtor de amoras-pretas, mas oferece algumas oportunidades de mercado. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a época de colheita, a produtividade e a qualidade das frutas de cinco variedades de amoreira-preta no município. As variedades Brazos, Tupy, Cherokee, Guarani e Xavante foram avaliadas durante duas safras quanto a número e massa de pseudofrutos produzidos, época de colheita, massa individual, teor de sólidos solúveis e acidez total do suco dos pseudofrutos. A maior produtividade foi observada para ‘Tupy’ (13,3t ha-1 ano-1), cujo suco foi pouco ácido e com maior relação entre sólidos solúveis e acidez que ‘Xavante’ e semelhante às demais. ‘Brazos’ necessitou do menor tempo para acumular 10% e 90% da massa de amoras colhidas; e ‘Guarani’, do maior tempo.
