Resumo: | This research intends to understand the financing of Brazilian journalism initiatives in the digital environment. It was made an literature review on the transformations of traditional journalism to digital, models of fundraising in media companies and types of financing. In this way, it aims to verify how digital journalism projects are organizing themselves to obtain the resources needed to remunerate journalists, invest in technologies and content production and generate revenues. The research was based on organizations that produce independent journalism in a digital environment in Brazil and used as method, interviews that sought to verify how much these media were able to raise in 2018 and what were the main means used to finance their operations. The chosen initiatives did not leave doubts regarding the quality of their journalistic production, however, as to their relationship with the market, it became clear that there is still much to improve. There is no evidence that these media are actually preparing to occupy a place in what we usually call the "journalistic industry". Most of them do not have a concrete fundraising project from a business modeling. Others have in philanthropy their best financing option and some believe that accepting funding, whoever it is, can compromise the independence of journalism they practice. The origin of the analyzed media is, in large part, the desire of journalism professionals to do something different from what is in the traditional media, all are devoted to topics that are not normally on the agenda of the great press and linked to the socio-environmental "causes". For example, human rights, inequality, gender and the environment. They are very organized medias in the content production, however, only one of them declared to have a professional dedicated to fundraising. Among the conclusions of this research was pointed the lack of preparation in formatting a model of capture capable of providing financial security. Even those who declare to have activities parallel to journalism, such as advice, consultancy, courses or event production – are only sporadic. The main conclusion of the research is that the digital native media need to occupy themselves with the formatting of fundraising models through the end activity, i.e. signatures and publicity, but should also use their editorial expertise to leverage other activities capable of providing subsidiary financial support to their activities. The way to strengthen and grow initiatives goes through a pragmatic view of their relations with their audiences/communities and the market in which they operate. |

Submitted by Adriana Alves Rodrigues (aalves@espm.br) on 2020-10-10T14:17:40Z No. of bitstreams: 1 Adalberto Wodianer Marcondes da Silva V10 Final.pdf: 1123335 bytes, checksum: f561b9b7d5056590b36252ed820f13e4 (MD5)Approved for entry into archive by Adriana Alves Rodrigues (aalves@espm.br) on 2020-10-10T14:19:16Z (GMT) No. of bitstreams: 1 Adalberto Wodianer Marcondes da Silva V10 Final.pdf: 1123335 bytes, checksum: f561b9b7d5056590b36252ed820f13e4 (MD5)Approved for entry into archive by Ana Cristina Ropero (ana@espm.br) on 2020-10-13T10:52:49Z (GMT) No. of bitstreams: 1 Adalberto Wodianer Marcondes da Silva V10 Final.pdf: 1123335 bytes, checksum: f561b9b7d5056590b36252ed820f13e4 (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2020-10-13T10:53:24Z (GMT).
