Resumo: The present study reports on a research project aimed to understand the relationship between art and democratic education within the federal institutes in a reactionary context. Based on document analysis and content analysis, the study investigated 24 “full texts” on teaching/research/extension activities relating to Art at federal institutes, published in the Anais do II, III e IV Encontro Nacional de Professores de Arte dos Institutos Federais [Annals of the II, III and IV National Meeting of Art Teachers at Federal Institutes]. The data analyzed indicate that the “full texts” of the Annals reflect the relationship between art and democratic education from the perspective of education through democracy, leading to the claim that they constitute a set of documents that express art’s resistance at the federal institutes in a reactionary context.

La investigación fue examinada con base en el análisis documental y análisis de contenido, 24 “textos completos” sobre acciones de enseñanza/investigaciones/extensión en Arte en los institutos federales, publicados en los Anais do II, III e IV Encontro Nacional de Professores de Arte dos Institutos Federais [Actas del II, III y IV Encuentro Nacional de Profesores de Arte de los Institutos Federales]. Los datos analizados indican que los “textos completos” de los Anales reverberan la relación entre arte y educación democrática en el ámbito de la perspectiva de la educación por medio de la democracia, llevando a la defensa de que ellos constituyen un conjunto de documentos que expresan la resistencia del arte en los institutos federales en un contexto reaccionario.Compte rendu d’une étude qui a cherché à comprendre le rapport entre art et éducation démocratique au sein des instituts federaux, dans un contexte réactionnaire. À partir de l’analyse documentaire et de l’analyse de contenu, la recherche a examiné 24 “textes complets”, publiés dans les Anais do II, III e IV Encontro Nacional de Professores de Arte dos Institutos Federais [Actes de II, III et IV Rencontres Nationale de Professeurs d’Art des Instituts Fédéraux], concernant les actions d’enseignement, de recherche et d’ouverture au public dans le domaine de l’art au sein de ces établisssements. Les données analysées montrent que les “textes complets” des Actes reflètent le rapport entre art et éducation démocratique dans une perspective d’éducation par la démocratie, ce qui mene à soutenir qu’ils constituent un ensemble de documents exprimant la résistance de l’art au sein des instituts federaux, dans un contexte réactionnaire.Este texto relata uma pesquisa que buscou compreender a relação entre arte e educação democrática no âmbito dos institutos federais em contexto reacionário. Investigaram-se, com base na análise documental e na análise de conteúdo, 24 “textos completos” sobre ações de ensino/pesquisa/extensão em Arte nos institutos federais, publicados nos Anais do II, III e IV Encontro Nacional de Professores de Arte dos Institutos Federais.
