Resumo: | This article discusses some of the limits of studies that investigate the relationship betweenexpenditure and results based on aggregated data, as well as the opportunities for improvement associated with the use of information on expenditure at school level. Taking such possibilities into account, approaches are developed to collect information at school-level expenditure, which usually suggest that expenses be aggregated according to activities carried out by the schools. Considering the results of two surveys that use data from school-level expenditure, some limitations of the studies based on aggregated data can be overcome, such as the ability to identify how expenses with different school activities are related to performance. |

En vista de estasposibilidades, se plantean enfoques para la construcción de la información de gasto en el nivel de las escuelas, enfoques que, en general, proponen que los gastos sean agregados según actividades desarrolladas por las escuelas. Considerando los resultados de dos investigacionesque utilizan datos de gasto en el nivel de la escuela, se puede notar la superación de algunos de los límites de los trabajos basados en datos agregados, como, por ejemplo, la posibilidad de identificar qué gastos con diferentes actividades escolares guardan relaciones diversas con el desempeño.Cet article, appuyé sur des données agregées, aborde certaines limites des recherches sur le rapport entre dépenses en éducation et résultats scolaires, aussi bien que les possibilités d’améliorations que représente l’utilisation d’informations concernant les dépenses des écoles.En vue de cette amelioration sont avancées des approches pour l´élaboration des informationssur les dépenses scolaires qui proposent que les dépenses soient étayées en fonction des activités développées par chaque écoles. Les résultats de deux recherches utilisant cette methodologie indiquent que certaines limites des travaux basés sur des données agrégées peuvent être surmontées comme le montre, par exemple, la possibilité d’identifi er quelles dépenses liées à différentes activités scolaires entretiennent des rapports avec la performance.Este artigo trata de alguns dos limites das pesquisas que exploram a relação entre gastos e resultados educacionais com base em dados agregados, assim como das possibilidades de avanço associadas ao uso de informações de gastos no nível da escola. Tendo em vista tais possibilidades, são elencadas abordagens para a construção da informação de gasto no nível das escolas, abordagens essas que, em geral, propõem que os gastos sejam agregados segundo atividades desenvolvidas pelas escolas.
