Observation of effective teaching practices in the classroom: training and research

Resumo: | In this article, the author discusses her path as a researcher of effective teaching practices and the functioning of the interactive teaching-learning process from observing a sequence of lessons. The author takes into consideration different studies conducted by CERS and CREN and by the OPEN and OPEEN & Reform networks, and presents a recent study on the observation of teaching practices in their relationships with learning (OPERA) conducted in Burkina Faso which attempts to identify the teaching practices that generate results. Based on class observations, the application of questionnaires and interviews with students, teachers and school principals, the study identified the need for training of teachers as well as other education professionals. Then, from this diagnosis, training tools were developed to assist in the analysis of practices, and to contribute to the improvement of the quality of education in sub-Saharan Africa. |

La autora considera diferentes investigaciones realizadas por el CERSE, CREN, por las redes OPEN y OPEEN & Reform y presenta una investigación reciente sobre la observación de las prácticas de enseñanza en sus relaciones con el aprendizaje (OPERA) hecha en Burkina Faso y que busca identificar las prácticas de enseñanza portadoras de efectos. A partir de la observación de clases, de la aplicación de cuestionarios y de entrevistas con alumnos, profesores y directores de escuelas, la investigación pudo identificar las necesidades de formación tanto de los profesores como de los demás profesionales de la educación. Después, a partir de ese diagnóstico, las herramientas de formación fueron diseñadas para ayudar en el análisis de las prácticas y contribuir a la mejora de la calidad de los sistemas educativos en el África subsahariana.Dans cet article, l’auteur présente son itinéraire de chercheur sur les pratiques enseignantes effectives et le fonctionnement du processus interactif enseignementapprentissage à partir de l’observation de séquences de classe. L’auteur rend compte de différentes recherches menées au CERSE, au CREN, dans les réseaux OPEN et OPEEN & Reform et restitue une recherche récente sur l’observation des pratiques enseignantes dans leur rapport avec les apprentissages (OPERA) menée au Burkina Faso et qui cherche à repérer des pratiques enseignants porteuses d’effets. A partir d’observations de séances de cours, de questionnaires et d’entretiens avec les élèves, les enseignants et les directeurs d’écoles, la recherche a pu repérer les besoins de formation aussi bien des enseignants que de leurs encadreurs. Puis, à partir de ce diagnostic, des outils de formation ont été conçus pour aider à analyser les pratiques et contribuer à l’amélioration de la qualité des systèmes éducatifs em Afrique subsaharienne. Neste artigo, a autora apresenta sua trajetória de pesquisadora das práticas de ensino efetivas e do funcionamento do processo interativo ensino-aprendizagem a partir da observação de uma sequência de aulas. A autora considera diferentes pesquisas realizadas pelo CERSE, CREN, pelas redes OPEN e OPEEN & Reform e apresenta uma pesquisa recente sobre a observação das práticas de ensino em suas relações com a aprendizagem (OPERA) feita em Burquina Faso e que procura identificar as práticas de ensino portadoras de efeitos. A partir da observação de aulas, da aplicação de questionários e de entrevistas com alunos, professores e diretores de escolas, a pesquisa pôde identificar as necessidades de formação tanto dos professores quanto dos demais profissionais da educação.
