World concepts and values in psychological investigation

Resumo: This paper attempts to analyze the characteristics that the non-epistemic values take on psychological research, being associated with the conceptions of the world, excisionist or dialectic. Our starting point is the work of feminist epistemologists who questioned the classic positivist dichotomy between facts and values, which still predominates in psychological research. We will focus on the modus operandi of the non-epistemic values in the characterization of the problems to be studied, in the methodological choice, in the establishment of units of analysis and in the interviews. And in what will be the primary concern, as in much of the philosophy of science: is it possible to support a concept of objectivity that is different from the traditional one and that does not exclude the values, but, on the contrary, includes them?

Nuestro punto de partida son los trabajos de las epistemólogas feministas que han cuestionado la clásica dicotomía positivista, entre hechos y valores, todavía predominante en la investigación psicológica. Nos ocuparemos del modus operandi de los valores no epistémicos en la caracterización de los problemas a investigar, en la elección metodológica, en el establecimiento de las unidades de análisis y las entrevistas. Y lo que va a constituir la cuestión central, como en gran parte de la filosofía de la ciencia: ¿se puede sostener un concepto de objetividad diferente del tradicional y que no excluya a los valores sino que los incluya?  Ce travail essaie d’analyser les caractéristiques propres que les valeurs non épistémologiques ont adoptées dans la recherche psychologique, en association aux conceptions du monde, aussi bien scissionnistes que dialectiques. Nous avons pris comme point de départ les travaux des épistémologues féministes qui ont mis en question la dichotomie classique positiviste, entre faits et valeurs, qui prévalent toujours dans l’investigation psychologique. Nous traiterons du modus operandi des valeurs non épistémiques dans la caractérisation des problèmes à étudier, dans le choix méthodologique, dans l’établissement des unités d’analyse et des entretiens. Et, ce qui constituera la question centrale, comme pour une grande partie de la philosophie de la science : est-il possible de soutenir un concept d’objectivité différent du traditionnel et qui n’exclut pas les valeurs mais qui, au contraire, les inclut?   Este trabalho tenta analisar as características próprias que os valores não epistêmicos adotam na pesquisa psicológica, estando associados às concepções do mundo, escisionista ou dialética. Nosso ponto de partida são os trabalhos das epistemólogas feministas que questionaram a clássica dicotomia positivista entre fatos e valores que ainda predomina na pesquisa psicológica. Ocupar-nos-emos do modus operandi dos valores não epistêmicos na caracterização dos problemas a serem pesquisados, na escolha metodológica, no estabelecimento das unidades de análise e nas entrevistas. E naquilo que constituirá a questão central, como em grande parte da filosofia da ciência: é possível sustentar um conceito de objetividade diferente do tradicional e que não exclua os valores, mas que, pelo contrário, os inclua?
