The present study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the application of the penal system in crimes of passive corruption committed by political agents. To this end, the different legal positions regarding the expansion and hardening of criminal laws to combat corruption were analyzed, based on the 10 anti-corruption measures developed by the Federal Public Ministry. The research considered the context of recent years, where there has been a transformation in the legal-penal treatment given to these types of crimes, mainly from the paths covered by the jet-laundering operation. As a consequence, there was an intensification of media coverage of news involving white collar crimes. In the meantime, based on critical and mediatic criminology, we sought to develop a dominant critical thinking of the media, forming a thought based on a distorted reality, which does not consider the dangers to the Democratic State of Law caused by the relativization of procedural and constitutional rules, the real political and economic interests behind the search for the fight against corruption of political agents, the traditionally selective behavior of the penal system and the media. Thus, the work proposes to raise these counterpoints, which are hidden from the media narrative and the work done by members of the judiciary and the Public Ministry in the fight against corruption.
