Resumo: Objective: to verify the acute toxicity of crude ethanolic extract from aerial parts of this plant species against Artemia salina. Methods: The extract from aerial parts of Lippia microphylla, at concentrations of 1.0, 10.0, 100.0 and 1000.0 μg/mL, was used in acute toxicity tests using the microcrustacean Artemia salina (n = 10), incubated for a period 24 and 48 hours, performed in triplicate. The number of dead nauplii were quantified and the LC50 were calculated by non-linear regression. Results: The extract of Lippia microphylla promoted toxicity (p < 0.05) only in the most concentration (1000 μg/mL) at during 24hs of exposition. It showed toxicity in exposure for 48 hours (LC50 = 246.7 ± 27.85 μg/mL), presenting moderate toxicity. Conclusion: Lippia microphylla aerial parts have active principles, which probably cannot be completely eliminated by A. salina metabolism during 48 hours, causing toxicity.
