Resumo: Objective: to observe and to compare the acute toxicity of the leaves (Csf) and stalk (Csc) extracts from Cinnamomum stenophyllum on brine shrimp Artemia salina. Methods: Csf and Csc extracts (1, 10, 100 and 1000 μg/mL) were evaluate the assay acute toxicity on Artemia salina, were add to the samples during 24 or 48 hours, performed at triplicate. The nauplii dead number were determined and LC was calculated by non-linear regression. Csf extract presents toxicity only with 1000g/mL at 48hs. Results: (P<0.05), thus the LC did not calculated. Csc was toxic only at 48hs (LC = 8.7 0.7 g/mL), regarded as high toxicity (LC < 100 g/mL). Conclusion: The leaf and stalk from Cinnamomum stenophyllum presents active metabolites that induced toxicity Artemia salina at high exposition, probably, are different substances or most concentrated on stalk. Those data are related for first time in literature.
