Resumo: | In the Sophist Plato reformulates the “negative” as “difference” and attaches “participation” to “predication” in order to use logos to get at “what is”. His intention is to eliminate the problems posed by Gorgias’ and Protagoras’ (according to which “thought” and logos have no access to “what is”) criticisms of Parmenides’ conception of “thought” as an infallible cognitive state. Plato’s “Socratic” dialogues recover the Eleatic conception of an infallible knowledge. However, if Plato considers “opinion” a “cognitive power” (Republic V-VII), in the Theaetetus he stresses the impossibility of using it to achieve “knowledge”. All these difficulties are overcome in the Sophist through the proposal of a predicative epistemology. |

However, if Plato considers “opinion” a “cognitive power” (Republic V-VII), in the Theaetetus he stresses the impossibility of using it to achieve “knowledge”. All these difficulties are overcome in the Sophist through the proposal of a predicative epistemology. Revista HypnosHypnos Journal2017-04-06info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://hypnos.org.br/index.php/hypnos/article/view/509Revista Hypnos; n. 38 (2017); 1-19Hypnos Journal; No. 38 (2017); 1-192177-53461413-9138reponame:Hypnosinstname:Faculdade de São Bento (FSB)instacron:FSBporhttps://hypnos.org.br/index.php/hypnos/article/view/509/546Copyright (c) 2017 José Trindade Santosinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessSantos, José Gabriel Trindade2017-04-08T19:27:44Zoai:ojs.hypnos.org.br:article/509Revistahttps://hypnos.org.br/index.php/hypnosPRIhttps://hypnos.org.br/index.php/hypnos/oairachelgazolla@gmail.com2177-53461413-9138opendoar:2023-01-13T09:47:07.639615Hypnos - Faculdade de São Bento (FSB)false |
