STRESS IN ENGINEERING STUDENTS

Resumo: This article aims at studying the stress factors in students of an engineering course at the city of Curitiba. Although stress can be also regarded as a positive factor to the subjects, while responses to stress agents are mild and light, the notion most often widespread and damaging is that in which the estressor has a negative character and more prolonged, which indicates greater severity. Academic, social, profissional, exams, dedlines to be met, learning new technologies in short time, the search for an intership or placement in the labor market in the midst of this process of building a professional identity. Are variables that are interwined and can facilitate the emergence of estress in students. We characterize this study as descriptive, and assessment of the data will give a qualitative approach and the method used is the case study. The sample consisted of 84 engineering estudents. Finally, the study indicates the need for interventions that address the most affected group of students as well as providing proposals to minimize and avoid problems of students who drop out the course. Embora o estresse possa ser considerado também como fator positivo aos sujeitos, quando as respostas aos agentes estressores são suaves e leves, a noção mais frequentemente disseminada e nociva é aquela em que o agente estressor tem um caráter negativo e mais prolongado, que denota maior gravidade. Atividades acadêmicas, sociais,profissionais, provas, prazos a serem cumpridos, aprendizado de novas tecnologias em curto período de tempo, a busca de um estágio ou colocação no mercado de trabalho e em meio a tudo isso, o processo de construção de uma identidade profissional. São variáveis que se entrelaçam e podem facilitar o surgimento do estresse em estudantes. Caracterizamos o presente estudo como pesquisa descritiva, sendo que a apreciação dos dados dar-se-á sob uma abordagem qualitativa e o método utilizado é o estudo de caso. A amostra foi composta por 84 estudantes de engenharia. Conclui-se o estudo apontando a necessidade de intervenções que contemplem o conjunto de estudantes mais afetados, além de viabilizar propostas para minimizar e evitar problemas de evasão escolar.
