Resumo: | Introduction: This study addresses Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) as a treatment for Parkinson's disease (PD), a common neurological disorder in the elderly, characterized by motor and non-motor symptoms. Objective: To investigate the effectiveness of DBS in improving PD symptoms. PD, using a qualitative approach and an integrative literature review. Results: 21 articles were selected from relevant databases, focusing on the improvement of motor and non-motor symptoms of PD, the technique and stimulation parameters of DBS, and its effectiveness in different brain targets. The results show that DBS is effective in reducing symptoms such as chronic pain, tremors, stiffness and psychiatric disorders. Technical precision and electrode location are crucial to the success of the treatment. The results also highlight the need for individualized treatments due to the variability of results between patients. Conclusion: DBS has significant potential as a treatment for PD, improving patients' quality of life. However, more research, including clinical trials and meta-analyses, is needed to optimize its use. |

Os resultados mostram que a DBS é eficaz na redução de sintomas como dor crônica, tremores, rigidez e distúrbios psiquiátricos. A precisão técnica e a localização dos eletrodos são cruciais para o sucesso do tratamento. Também destaca-se a necessidade de tratamentos individualizados devido à variabilidade dos resultados entre pacientes.Conclusão: A DBS apresenta um potencial significativo como tratamento para a DP, melhorando a qualidade de vida dos pacientes.
