Resumo: The present study seeks to analyze the problematic issue of eugenics in a critical reading in the light of the principle of dignity of the Human Person. Starting with reports that demonstrate the practice of eugenics in various places of the world, it seeks to differentiate eugenics from the ‘’distorted eugenics’’, considered in the ‘New Science’ perspective. Then, it turns to eugenics practice data, specifically in Brazil, which contributed to the miscegenation of European people. It is considered, then, the racist thought expressed between 1929 and 1933 in the Brazilian Eugenics Bulletin. Lastly, eugenics is questioned in the light of the  ignity of Human Person constitutional foundation.

A partir de relatos que demonstram a prática da eugenia em vários lugares do mundo, procura diferenciar os conceitos de eugenia e de “eugenismo”, considerados na perspectiva de ‘Nova Ciência’. Passa-se, depois, a dados relativos à prática da eugenia, especificamente no Brasil, o que contribuiu para a miscigenação com povos de origem europeia. Considerase, em seguida, o pensamento racista expresso entre 1929 e 1933 no Boletim Eugenista brasileiro.
