Evaluating the quality of higher education in Mozambique: perspectives and challenges for technological and innovative education

Resumo: This research aimed to identify how implementing a higher education evaluation system has contributed to developing technological and innovative education in Mozambique. To this end, a mixed-methods study was carried out, which collected the perceptions of 16 heads of HEIs located in the provinces of Manica, Tete, Sofala, and Zambézia through interviews. In addition, the perceptions of 99 teachers and 326 students were also collected through questionnaires. Improvements were identified in teaching infrastructure, course curricula, and staff training, specifically teachers. However, specific challenges were highlighted, such as the availability of financial resources and teachers' access to doctoral courses.

Para ello, se llevó a cabo un estudio de métodos mixtos, que recogió las percepciones de 16 directores de IES situadas en las provincias de Manica, Tete, Sofala y Zambézia, a través de entrevistas. Además, también se recogieron las percepciones de 99 profesores y 326 alumnos mediante cuestionarios. Se identificaron mejoras en las infraestructuras de enseñanza, los planes de estudio de los cursos y la formación del personal, en concreto de los profesores. Sin embargo, se destacaron algunos retos, como la disponibilidad de recursos financieros y el acceso de los profesores a los programas de doctorado.A presente investigação teve como objetivo identificar como a implementação de um sistema de avaliação do Ensino Superior tem contribuído para o desenvolvimento de um ensino tecnológico e inovador em Moçambique. Para tanto, realizou-se uma pesquisa de abordagem mista, que coletou a percepção de 16 dirigentes de IES localizadas nas províncias de Manica, Tete, Sofala e Zambézia, através da realização de entrevistas. Ademais, as percepções de 99 professores e 326 estudantes foram, também, coletadas, a partir da aplicação de questionários. Identificou-se, a destacar, melhorias nas infraestruturas de ensino, nos currículos dos cursos, e na formação de pessoal, especificamente, de docentes.
