RISK AND PROTECTIVE FACTORS AND THEIR IMPACTS ON THE MENTAL HEALTH OF HIGH SCHOOL PROFESSIONAL AND TECHNOLOGICAL EDUCATION STUDENTS

Resumo: | This article presents partial results of an ongoing qualitative research, whose objective was to investigate the expectations of academic and professional success and their relationship with the suffering and emotional illness of third-year students of High School Technical Professional Education – HSTPE in the integrated modality. The instrument used for data collection was a semi-structured questionnaire, applied online. The collected data were interpreted by the method of content analysis in Bardin, through which three categories were elaborated. However, we will present one of the categories, related to risk and protective factors for mental health, based on the students' answers in the questionnaires applied in dialogue with the literature. We identified that students are crossed by numerous factors such as: bullying, gender issues in the choice of courses, family pressure and expectations regarding the labor market that can affect mental health and that is why it is necessary to expand spaces that discuss this and go beyond the walls of the school, thereby reducing risk factors and strengthening the protective factors. |

O instrumento utilizado para coleta de dados foi questionário semiestruturado, aplicado de forma online. Os dados coletados foram interpretados pelo método de análise de conteúdo em Bardin, através desta foram elaboradas três categorias. Contudo, iremos apresentar uma das categorias, relacionada aos fatores de risco e de proteção à saúde mental, a partir das respostas dos estudantes nos questionários aplicados em diálogo com a literatura. Identificamos que os estudantes são atravessados por inúmeros fatores como: bullyling, questões de gênero na escolha dos cursos, pressão familiar e expectativas em relação ao mercado de trabalho que podem afetar a saúde mental e por isso se faz necessário a ampliação de espaços que discutam esta temática e ultrapassem os muros da escola, reduzindo assim os fatores de risco e fortalecendo os fatores de proteção.
