Law of Quotas and Student Assistance at Federal Institute of Acre: Analysis of permanence and success rates in Integrated High School courses (Campus Rio Branco)

Resumo: The article analyzes the retention and success rates of students entering in 2019 in Integrated High School courses at the Federal Institute of Acre (Campus Rio Branco), benefiting from student assistance notices (socioeconomic support programs) during the period of curricular completion and, furthermore, observes existing policies, their applicability and effects regarding the retention and success of incoming students in the form of quota places and broad competition. The methodology used was of a qualitative-quantitative approach and applied in nature. As for procedures, it is considered documentary and bibliographic. Based on concepts from the Nilo Peçanha Platform, data collected from the School Registration Coordination and the Student Assistance Center both at the Rio Branco Campus were discussed, obtaining retention and success rates and reflecting on the effects of the assistance policy student. Based on research carried out in Federal Institutes on the topic of permanence and success in technical courses. In view of the research carried out, the results demonstrated, in many situations, that the ideal of democratizing the entry of vulnerable popular classes is not a guarantee of success in professional training and that there is a need to think about the development of institutional actions for the strategic plan of permanence and success.

La metodología utilizada fue de enfoque cualitativo-cuantitativo y de carácter aplicado. En cuanto a procedimientos, se considera documental y bibliográfico. A partir de conceptos de la Plataforma Nilo Peçanha, se discutieron datos recopilados de la Coordinación de Inscripción Escolar y del Centro de Atención al Estudiante, ambos del Campus Rio Branco, obteniendo tasas de retención y éxito y reflexionando sobre los efectos de la política de atención al estudiante. A partir de investigaciones realizadas en Institutos Federales sobre el tema de permanencia y éxito en carreras técnicas y, a la vista de las investigaciones realizadas, los resultados demostraron, en muchas situaciones, que el ideal de democratizar el ingreso de clases populares vulnerables no es una garantía de éxito en la formación profesional y es necesario pensar en el desarrollo de acciones institucionales para el plan estratégico de permanencia y éxito.O artigo analisa as taxas de permanência e êxito de alunos ingressantes de 2019 nos cursos do Ensino Médio Integrado do Instituto Federal do Acre (Campus Rio Branco), beneficiados nos editais de assistência estudantil (programas de apoio socioeconômico) durante o período de integralização curricular e, ainda, observa as políticas existentes, sua aplicabilidade e efeitos referentes à permanência e êxito de alunos ingressantes na modalidade de vagas cotas e ampla concorrência. A metodologia utilizada foi a de abordagem quali-quantitativa e natureza aplicada; quanto aos procedimentos, é considerada documental e bibliográfica. Discutiram-se, com base em conceitos da Plataforma Nilo Peçanha, dados coletados na Coordenação de Registro Escolar e no Núcleo de Assistência ao Estudante, ambos do Campus Rio Branco, obtendo as taxas de permanência e êxito e refletindo sobre os efeitos da política de assistência estudantil.
