The Research Groups are important place for discussion of ideas and for researcher formation, aiming to promote the improvement of the investigation network. Therewith, this work aimed to map the Research Groups that are part of Brazilian Legal Amazon (BLA) and focus on the theme of mathematics teacher’s formation. For this, a data collection was carried out in the Directory of Research Groups, focusing on groups linked to BLA institutions. As a result, it was found that most of the Research Groups with this theme are located in the State of Pará, and that there is a certain isolation of researchers in their groups. Furthermore, there was a lack in formation of new groups after the year 2017, and it is important to encourage the creation of this, for an expansion on this topic discussions
