Resumo: The aim of this article is to analyze the experience in teaching Rugby content in physical education classes. The article is characterized as a qualitative research, where the ethnographic method was used. Physical education classes at a public institution in Petrolina/PE were observed. We conducted an interview with the teacher and administered questionnaires to students. The results only point out that the insertion of different contents cannot be understood as good practice or innovative practices in physical education classes. The insertion of different contents is in fact a necessary demand for the physical education curriculum at school, but it cannot be seen as a decoy to attribute quality or innovation in classes.

El artículo se caracteriza por ser una investigación cualitativa, donde se utilizó el método etnográfico. Se observaron clases de educación física en una institución pública en Petrolina/PE. Realizamos una entrevista con el maestro y administramos cuestionarios a los estudiantes. Los resultados solo señalan que la inserción de diferentes contenidos no puede entenderse como buena práctica o prácticas innovadoras en las clases de educación física. La inserción de diferentes contenidos es de hecho una exigencia necesaria para el currículo de educación física en la escuela, pero no puede verse como un señuelo para atribuir calidad o innovación en las clases.O objetivo desse artigo é analisar a experiência no ensino do conteúdo Rugby nas aulas de educação física. O artigo caracteriza-se como uma pesquisa qualitativa, onde foi utilizado o método etnográfico. Foram observadas as aulas de educação física de uma instituição pública de Petrolina/PE. Realizamos uma entrevista com o professor e aplicamos questionários aos alunos. Os resultados apontam que apenas a inserção de conteúdos diferentes não pode ser entendido como uma boa prática ou prática inovadora nas aulas de educação física.
