Resumo: In the immunocompromised patient the onset of fever should immediately trigger an exhaustive evaluation to determine its etiology. This paper suggests an orderly approach to differential diagnosis whereby the most likely causes of signs or symptoms referable to an organ system or a physical finding are most expeditiously considered and then ruled in or out.
