RETHINKING ACADEMIC FORMATION AND PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITY OF DIETITIAN: A STUDY WITH EGRESSES FROM “UNIVERSIDADE FEDERAL DE GOIÁS” (UFG), BRAZIL

Resumo: The nutritionists graduated from Universidade Federal de Goiás, Brazil, evaluate determinant aspects of academic formation and its relationship with professional practice, aiming to get the feedback of formation through the activities performed by the egresses. Data obtained represent information gotten from questionnaires applied to the suweyed group, consisted nutritionists graduated in the period of 1979-1992. It was performed an evaluation of the positive factors of formation considered points that facilitate the professional activity and the main difficulties found in practicing because of lacks in graduated course. The main lacks pointed out by the egresses were insufficiency of practical experience and dissociation between theory and practice. Data analysis shows that difficulties faced by the nutritionists in professional activity have close relation with the pointed out lacks in formation, which is being considered insufficient to the necessities of the market. The present study obtains subsidies to think about the necessity of rethinking academic formation while it makes possible to identiQ newroutes for improvement based on professional practice.

Os dados coletados representam informações extraídas de questionários aplicados aos ex-alunos, graduados no período compreendido entre 1979 e 1992, abordando as unidades temáticas: avaliação sobre a formação acadêmica em relação às necessidades do mercado de trabalho, fatores positivos do curso considerados facilitadores do exercício profissional e dificuldades encontradas na prática profissional decorrentes de falhas no curso de graduação. A análise dos dados evidencia que as dificuldades indicadas pelos egressos no exercício profissional guardam estreita relação com as falhas apontadas na formação recebida, ressaltando-se a falta de experiência prática e a dissociação entre teoria e prática, como os aspectos mais relevantes.
