Feminicide and Law Maria da Penha: an analysis of the instruments for coping with gender violence in Brazil

The present research aims to analyze the instruments to confront gender violence in Brazil, based on the current context, marked by the increase of violence against women and a large number of cases of feminicide, although the Law nr. 11.340 / 2006 - Maria da Penha Law - be considered one of the best and the most efficient in the world with regard to the topic. Thus, it sought to understand the object of research through bibliographic review, carried out in scientific articles published on the subject, legal doctrine and legislation related to the theme. The qualitative method was used to discuss the data found and the deductive method was used to reach the conclusions, starting from the general information analyzed until the specific ones. At first, it is intended to present a historical context with brief notes on gender violence in Brazil. Subsequently, the objective is to weave a theoretical discussion about relevant aspects of the Maria da Penha Law and its impact on feminicide cases today, doing an analysis of the data found. Finally, based on the discussion presented and taking into account the fundamental rights of women, solutions are proposed to improve the current scenario of gender violence that plagues the society so much and victimizes countless women daily.   Keywords: Gender violence.
