Childhood’s (a)sexuality managements: an approach to the research field in social sciences in Latin America

Resumo: Child (a)sexuality has been located in complex and diverse discoursesthrough history. Currently there is an extended consensus of governmental apparatuses that recognize a large, comprehensive and positive definition for adult sexuality – for example the WHO`s definition of sexuality. However, when child sexuality is referred to, it is reduced to prevention restricting at the same time the conceptualization to a dangerous kind of sexuality. This operation, detected in a variety of social discourses corresponds to international right enunciations and also to the state of the art of social investigations towards childhood. The main objective of this article is to explicit some meanings of the age-sexual stratification, specifying some procedures of social discourse that construct and (re)produce it, particularly in the field of social investigations about sexual and reproductive rights.

Actualmente contamos con un consenso de aparatos gubernamentales que reconoce una definición de sexualidad integral, positiva y amplia para la sexualidad adulta – tal es el caso de la definición de sexualidad de la OMS –, y sin embargo, cuando se refiere la sexualidad infantil, generalmente se la reduce a la prevención, restringiendo al mismo tiempo la noción de sexualidad a una sexualidad peligrosa. Esta operación que detectamos en una amplia variedad de discursos sociales se corresponde con enunciaciones del derecho internacional y a su vez con el estado de investigaciones sociales y humanas relativas a la infancia. El objetivo del presente artículo es poner en funcionamiento algunos significados de la estratificación de la sexualidad por edad, explicitando operaciones específicas del discurso social que la constituyen y (re)producen, especialmente en el campo de los discursos de derechos sexuales y reproductivos.La (a)sexualidad infantil ha sido emplazada en discursos complejos y heterogéneos a lo largo de la historia.
