Teachers and texts in Argentina: the teaching of foreign languages in the school system between eighteen eighty and ninteen thirty

Resumo: The article presents the various voices that between 1880 and 1930 constituted, in Argentina, the discursive formation about what it meant to be a teacher of foreign languages. It highlights the required teaching image the school, the textbook place device visibility and ideals of the time. For this, we present a historical context of the period indicated, then analyzed for the period authentic explores the place to be given to the teacher at school and foreign language teacher and taking textbook for teaching languages. Foreign language books published in Argentina were analyzed and used in schools across the country from about 1938. The analysis makes visible three discursive topos: the order and tranquility and neatness, tightly intertwined with each other and that respond to the ideology of the time.

Se destaca la imagen docente requerida en la institución escolar, el lugar del libro de textos como dispositivo de visibilidad de los ideales de la época. Para esto, se presenta una contextualización histórica del período indicado, luego se analizan documentos auténticos de ese período para indagar el lugar que se concedía al maestro en la escuela y al profesor de lengua extranjera y el que tomaba el libro de textos para la enseñanza de idiomas. Los libros de lengua extranjera analizados fueron editados en Argentina y utilizados en escuelas del país a partir de 1938 aproximadamente. El análisis visibiliza tres topos discursivos: el orden y la tranquilidad y la pulcritud, fuertemente entrelazados entre si y que responden al ideario de la época.O artigo apresenta as diversas vozes que, entre 1880 e 1939, constituíram, na Argentina, a formação discursiva sobre o que significa ser professor/a de línguas estrangeiras. Destaca-se a imagem do/a professor/a solicitada na escola, o lugar do livro didático como dispositivo de visibilidade dos ideais daquela época. Nesse sentido, apresenta-se uma contextualização histórica, analisam-se documentos autênticos desse período com a finalidade de indagar o lugar concedido à escola, ao/à professor/a de língua estrangeira e ao livro didático. Os livros analisados foram editados na Argentina e levados para as aulas a partir de 1938 aproximadamente.
