Literature review: a necessary ritual to qualify the scientific research and know the object of research

Resumo:  This article aims to problematize a theoretical-methodological issue inherent in scientific research: the literature review. In order to do that, some practices developed in a research group from the south of the country have been described and related to information obtained from a group of Education graduate students, and the concepts of state of the art and review of literature were also problematized. This descriptive, problematizing and operative study presents a way to conduct the literature review. Characterized as an essay, the text brings up justifi cations to consider a literature review, which is identified as a ritual. The text also evidences the goals and the ways of approaching the literature review, as well as the strategies to complete each of its steps, especially the ones that diff erentiate it from the state of the art, by pointing out some of the most frequently seen investigations on literature review and in the research group experiences. For this problematization, the study is grounded on a poststructuralist perspective and seeks to show the intricacies of this investigation issue, with different understandings, paths and possibilities, but, above all, the need to perform this research ritual. As a result, it was observed that the literature review plays an important role in research, and it can be conducted with rigor, productivity and originality.

Para esto, se describen algunas prácticas desarrolladas en un grupo de investigación del sur del país, relacionándolas con informaciones derivadas de una consulta a un grupo de alumnos de posgrado en Educación y problematizando los conceptos de estado del arte y revisión bibliográfica. El texto, de carácter descriptivo, problematizador y operativo, presenta una forma de desarrollar la revisión bibliográfica. Caracterizado como un ensayo, trae justificativas para considerarla y, al identificarla como un ritual, demuestra sus objetivos, las formas de abordarlo, las estrategias para llevar a cabo cada una de las partes que implica y, principalmente, las que la diferencian del estado del arte, señalando algunas de las referencias que más circulan en las investigaciones sobre revisión bibliográfica y en lasexperiencias del grupo de investigación. Para tal problematización, se ancla en una perspectiva post-estructuralista y se busca mostrar las complejidades de esta cuestión investigativa, con diferentes comprensiones,caminos y posibilidades, pero, sobre todo, la necesidad de realizar este ritual de investigación. Como resultado, se observó que la revisión bibliográfica representa un momento importante en las investigaciones, siendo posible realizarla con rigor, productividad y originalidad.O presente artigo tem como objetivo problematizar uma questão teórico-metodológica inerente à pesquisa científica: a revisão de literatura. Para isso, descrevem-se algumas práticas desenvolvidas em um grupo de pesquisa do sul do país, relacionando-as com informações oriundas de uma consulta a um grupo de alunos de pós-graduação em Educação e tensionando os conceitos de estado da arte e de revisão de literatura. O texto, de natureza descritiva, problematizadora e operativa, apresenta uma forma de desenvolver a revisão de literatura. Caracterizado como um ensaio, traz justifi cativas para considerá-la e, por identificá-la como um ritual, demonstra seus objetivos, as formas de abordá-la e as estratégias para realizar cada uma das partes que ela implica, principalmente as que a diferenciam do estado da arte, apontando alguns dos referenciais que mais circulam nas investigações sobre revisão de literatura e nas experiências do grupo de pesquisa. Para tal problematização, ancora-se em uma perspectiva pós-estruturalista e procura mostrar os meandros dessa questão investigativa, com diferentes entendimentos, caminhos e possibilidades, mas, sobretudo, a necessidade de realizar esse ritual da pesquisa.
