Resumo: | This study analyzes cinema audiences and their behavior in the exhibition spaces in the Portuguese district capitals, between 1896 and 1924. The focus emphasizes the practices of spectators during film sessions in order to evaluate the avoidance schemes to the discipline imposed by a growing industry. Moment characterized by the spread and consolidation of cinema among leisure activities, film screenings gathered together the most diverse social groups in large or small towns, emerging as a very popular show. From the press was possible to evaluate the appropriation of projection rooms by spectators, which significantly differed from mutations in film and their spaces during that period. |

El enfoque da prioridad a las prácticas de los espectadores durante las sesiones cinematográficas, con la intención de conocer los mecanismos de evasión a la disciplina impuesta por una industria en crecimiento. Momento caracterizado por la difusión y consolidación del cine entre las actividades de ocio, las exhibiciones cinematográficas congregaban a los más diversos grupos sociales en las grandes o pequeñas localidades, emergiendo como un espectáculo de gran popularidad. A partir de la prensa fue posible evaluar la apropiaciones de las salas de proyección por los espectadores, lo cuales divergieron sensiblemente de las mutaciones en el cine y sus espacios durante aquel periodo.Este estudo analisa os públicos de cinema e seus comportamentos nos espaços de exibição nas capitais distritais portuguesas, entre 1896 e 1924. O foco privilegia as práticas dos espectadores durante as sessões cinematográficas, no intuito de avaliar os mecanismos de evasão à disciplina imposta por uma indústria em crescimento. Momento caracterizado pela difusão e consolidação do cinema entre as atividades de lazer, as exibições cinematográficas congregavam os mais diversos grupos sociais nas grandes ou pequenas localidades, emergindo como um espetáculo de grande popularidade. A partir da imprensa foi possível avaliar as apropriações das salas de projeção pelos espectadores, as quais divergiram sensivelmente das mutações no cinema e seus espaçosdurante aquele período.
