Resumo: The main purpose of this work is to discuss about the tax treatment of investment grants and subsidies for current or funding from the legal nature of each of these species as well as to appropriate to the context of bookkeeping. The analysis and interpretation of grants, permeates a wide range of disputes in the Board of Tax, especially in regard to loans subsidized by state governments. The controversial issues are addressed in a didactic, always trying to position the reader about the different interpretations, bringing into play reviews of domestic and foreign scholars and interpretations of the Board of Tax and Revenue Service of Brazil
