The work is a descriptive study on the relationship between Formula 1 and marketing. But mainly from the list of tobacco companies that have been present in F1 since the past. The main objective of the study is to understand how this relationship evolved through the history of sports sponsorship. Data collection took place through an extensive bibliographical survey, composed mainly of journalistic articles in the digital environment. The study shows how these companies circumvented the FIA rules and continued investing in the category. The survey shows the reasons that encourage investments and the full reach that the category has. It is concluded that Formula 1, with all its influence and values, should put an end to the advertisements of these companies, mainly BAT and PMI. Even more so because it is a sport that has lately been linked to ecological and social causes. In addition, in order not to influence the use of these products since most of its audience is young
