Cuidar e educar: desafios para o desenvolvimento do papel de educador na educação infantil

Resumo: Many times in early childhood, it is noticed that the teacher ends up becoming an instructor and an excessive caretaker instead of teaching and caring under educational reasons. This can lead to turning the child into a dependent and insecure individual, incapable of having progress in the abilities expected throughout his/her development stages and in the meantime, it also causes the teacher to deviate from his/her beliefs leading to inconsistency of actions as well as health and social problems. The research carried out and here presented aims to comprehend what caring and teaching mean as parts of the educational process, eliciting their importance in the role of an educator. Relying on theory, we assumed that it is fundamental to favor educators in the teaching-learning relationships in early childhood education and to have the role of a teacher perceived as the one who educates and cares for students. We then turned to expressive authors in the areas of education and psychology who provide such perception. The path taken involves a pilot study carried out by having teachers fill in a questionnaire. The way in which data was handled is based on the principles of qualitative research, which also brings the implication on the matter inferred by the author of this work. The highlighted results show the individuals’ commitment when facing articulation between caring (providing the child with continence care) and teaching (favoring contact with knowledge). Nonetheless, they also express the need for investments in the early childhood teachers’ education, especially concerning the impacts on experiences the teacher has gone through - situations in which the professional role is pierced by emotional eventualities of the human condition - and draw attention to the importance of caring for the caring teacher

O risco para a criança é torna-la dependente, insegura, com dificuldades para que desenvolva as habilidades esperadas nas diversas etapas de desenvolvimento e o risco para o educador é afastar-se do que acredita, vivendo incoerências e comprometendo sua saúde pessoal-social. Este trabalho visa compreender o(s) sentido(s) de cuidar e educar como interfaces do ato educativo na educação infantil, explicitando sua importância para o trabalho do educador. Na fundamentação teórica partiu-se do pressuposto que é fundamental favorecer ao educador na relação ensino-aprendizagem na educação infantil, o desenvolvimento de seu papel visto como aquele que educa e cuida. Trabalhamos então com autores expressivos na área da educação e da psicologia que endossam essa perspectiva. O caminho percorrido envolveu um estudo piloto realizado com professores que foram solicitados a responder a um questionário. O tratamento dos dados baseou-se em princípios da pesquisa qualitativa trazendo também a implicação da autora diante da temática.
