Resumo: Stress is still realized as a factor difficult to control and which affects negatively the workers life, especially those under adverse psychological conditions due to the increasing levels of competitiveness in business. The research aimed to analyze the relations among psychosocial stress levels, coping strategies and the perceived quality of life of workers from private companies. In addition, this study sought to identify stressors that impacted more negatively on quality of life, as well the coping strategies most used. The research method used was the non-experimental quantitative approach. The sample was composed by 80 (eighty) professionals working in large and medium sized companies in São Paulo and that report to a superior. The subjects of the sample answered to the collecting data questionnaires in order to assess their stress levels, identify the coping strategies and the perception about their quality of life. The results indicated negative correlation between the stress levels and quality of life, in other words, the higher the stress levels, the worse the quality of life. The stressors that most significantly affect the workers quality of life are I am angry with discrimination/favoritism in my work environment and I am angry for not being recognized by my superiors . Regarding to coping, there was low correlation between their use and stress levels. Besides, it was observed that coping was less used in the cluster with low levels of stress and it increased in the cluster with higher levels of stress. However, the highest frequency of its use was observed in the cluster with intermediate levels of stress, suggesting the hypothesis that higher use of coping strategies is reducing stress levels and improving the quality of life. With regard to gender, were identified higher levels of stress and lower quality of life in groups with male predominance. The observed results validated the theoretical propositions of the initial study and indicate opportunity to deepen the theme in order to expand the repertoire of solutions for improving the workers quality of life

The observed results validated the theoretical propositions of the initial study and indicate opportunity to deepen the theme in order to expand the repertoire of solutions for improving the workers quality of lifeO estresse ainda é percebido como um fator de difícil controle e que afeta negativamente a vida dos trabalhadores, em especial dos que estão sob condições psicossociais adversas, em função dos crescentes patamares de competitividade nas empresas.
