O uso das tecnologias digitais no livro didático de língua inglesa do Ensino Fundamental II: uma reflexão à luz da multimodalidade

The present research aims to evaluate how multimodality and the use of technologies are worked in the Unit 1 - Information Overload and in the special section Doing research on the Internet of the textbook Way to English - 8th year of Elementary School II. Whereas the use of digital technologies and multimodality are important concepts that integrate the practices of multiliteracies, the work had as theoretical support Cope and Kalantzis (2009), Rojo (2012; 2013a; 2013b); Dionisio (2011) and other authors. Also, a qualitative research of documentary character was carried out, in order to evaluate the special section and first unit of the textbook previously mentioned. In order to carry out the evaluation, some criteria were elaborated based on the theoretical chapter of this research, because the PNLD (National Textbook Program) does not present specific criteria to evaluate multimodality and the use of new technologies in textbooks. Therefore, it was necessary to resort to studies that base the practice in school from a multimodal perspective and that take into account the new technologies for teaching-learning English Language. The evaluation revealed that the special section developed a proposal for the use of digital technologies, and the multimodality evaluation indicated that it was superficially worked on the activities of unit 1. Finally, this research contributes to the fact that teaching materials, an important resource available to students, can be encouraged to explore and discuss the multimodality and use of digital technologies in their activities, so that students are able to read and produce multimodal texts
